The Bible is a Queer Book: Homosexuality and the Bible (Bible Study series) Tuesday, November 18, 2008 (7:00 PM) Tuesday, November 25, 2008 (7:00 PM) Tuesday, December 2, 2008 (7:00 PM) Tuesday, December 9, 2008 (7:00 PM)
Tuesday Evening Bible Study with Pastor Bob Galloway begins again this Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7:00 PM in the annex. Bob will take his popular seminar and teach it over an eight week period on Tuesday evenings. Want to know what the Bible does and doesn't say about homosexuality? Are those who criticize us right? Is there any foundation to their beliefs? What do educated theologians and pastors have to say about the topic? You may be in for a very pleasant surprise.
If you suffer from internalized homophobia caused by those who condemn you for your sexual orientation and expression, then you need to attend this course and discover that the Bible is a book of God's love and acceptance of you exactly the way God created you. Much of what we have been told by others about the Bible isn't exactly true and may in fact be far from God's truth as revealed in the scriptures. Escape from the Religious Right's thinking and condemnation! Join us this Tuesday evening!

MCCK Christmas Concert at the Bijou Sunday, December 14, 2008 (7:00 PM)
Our choir will present this year's concert at the historic Bijou Theatre in downtown Knoxville on Sunday, December 14 at 7:00 PM. The choir has already been working on the Christmas music during its Wednesday evening rehearsals. The Bijou Theatre can seat up to 700 people, which will allow us to accommodate the ever-growing attendance at our annual Christmas program. Last year's concert had a combined attendance of over 400.
The choir from The Rock MCC Chattanooga is planning to join our choir this year as well. This is a rare opportunity for our church to move "out of the closet" and "into the marketplace" by witnessing our faith in God!
Admission is free. A love offering will be taken for the Deacon's Benevolence Fund.
Cyndi S., Administrative Board Member and Choir Member, is heading up our efforts to raise the funds to lease the Bijou Theatre. Total costs will exceed $3,500. Funds raised in excess of the basic amount needed will go to promote the concert. Pledge forms are available on the front table of the church. All money should be turned into the church on or before Sunday, November 2.
Volunteers are needed to serve as Greeters, Ushers, and to distribute communion.
Location: Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay St., Knoxville, TN 37902 Parking: The State Street, Market Square and Locust Street garages are free all day on weekends. A paid lot is available next to the Bijou Theatre.
